Family-Friendly Tunes to Play on Your Next Road Trip

The summer season is a time for many of us to hit the roads and get out of town. Whether to see loved ones from far away or to get a break at the beach, we greatly depend on our vehicles for the summer. Most of us dread the long car rides. A crowded car can be super boring or even stressful, but it doesn't have to be either this time around. We are suggesting a family sing-along to keep you and the kids entertained.

The first thing you need is to be able to connect your music to your vehicle's audio system. Most cars nowadays have Bluetooth capabilities, but you can connect your phone with an AUX cable if yours doesn't.

The next thing you will need is music (obviously). You can be old-school and use the radio or even CDs if available to you, but we highly suggest that you stream the music through your phone. Most of us are already paying monthly through streaming services, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, anyway. With any of those, you have access to millions of songs from an array of genres. Here are some of our favorites for family-friendly music:

  • Disney Soundtracks. Disney is a brand known for its fun, uplifting soundtracks. Pick from old classics like Beauty and the Beast or TheLittle Mermaid to newer iconic hits like High School Musical and Frozen. Regardless of age, you and your kids will be belting out the songs.
  • Musical Show Tunes. Broadway hits have "sing-along" written all over it. A prominent musical that has a ground-breaking soundtrack is Hamilton
  • Glee. This show had five seasons of soundtracks that cover modern and classic tunes, so it provides a mix for everyone.
  • Old-School Throwbacks. Many of the streaming services have curated playlists based on decades. Take a trip down memory lane and sing along to some of the hits you loved before.

Regardless of what you pick, cycle through your music and have a little karaoke fun with the entire family. If you are planning on heading out of town soon, don't forget to come by County Line Auto Service for a pre-trip inspection.
